At the first signs of Spring, the cool breeze and slightly rising temps only means warmer days ahead, so I jump at the chance to wear lighter pieces. On my style agenda? Shorter sleeves and straw hats, for sure. I'm loving the fit of this short sleeve pocket shirt from Banana Republic.* The cargo pockets adds structure while the drawstring allows you to cinch in at the waist giving your look some shape. I feel pulled together, yet so comfy at the same time - and the great thing about this shirt, you can undo the center buttons, then layer it over a tee as a light cover-up. When one piece serves as two, that's always a winner in my book.
This colorblock straw hat is also a key item in my Spring wardrobe. It's easy to get used to reaching for a traditional Panama or wide-brimmed sun hat, but the cobalt band against the two-tone straw on this one adds the right pop of color and is a nice twist to the classics.
I wore this look out over the sunny weekend to lunch, but it could easily be worn again on a casual Friday to work. As for the fedora, I've got big plans for it this season. I'm already envisioning it with an airy white dress and gladiator sandals, maybe even poolside with a sheer tunic over a swimsuit. Hot, sun shiny days, I'm ready for you.
